Graduating from the University of Southern California (USC) was a transformative milestone in my life. USC, renowned for its academic excellence, vibrant campus life, and global alumni network, offered me more than just a degree; it provided a foundation for my career, an array of cherished memories, and invaluable life lessons that I carry forward today.
At USC, I pursued M.S. (M.Tech) in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Engineering Design. I graduated with honours with a CGPA of 3.81/4.00 and was presented a medal of distinction by the governor of California at that time, Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Yes, Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger also known as the terminator from the movie series. The Terminator.
The courses were thoughtfully designed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application, pushing me to think critically, solve complex problems, and question conventional wisdom. Each semester presented a new academic adventure, from foundational subjects to specialized electives, which deepened my expertise and honed my skills.
One of the defining features of my education at USC was the opportunity to collaborate on various projects and research initiatives. I distinctly remember my involvement in Product Design, Intellectual Property (Patents), Finite Element analysis (FEA) using software such as Abacus as well as using MATLAB and running code, Heat Treatment specially the Iron Carbon Diagram amongst so may more things. This experience was more than just academic; it was a collaborative effort that taught me resilience, teamwork, and the importance of innovation. I had the privilege of working alongside some of the brightest minds from all over the world, learning from esteemed professors who encouraged curiosity and instilled a lifelong passion for learning.
I am immensely grateful for the people who played a pivotal role in my USC journey. Firstly, my professors and mentors were instrumental in shaping my intellectual and professional outlook. I am indebted to everyone who provided guidance, challenged my perspectives, and supported me through crucial phases of my academic journey.
Moreover, the friendships I forged at USC are some of the most meaningful connections I have. My classmates, roommates, and project partners turned into lifelong friends, making every experience more memorable and enjoyable. I fondly remember Kulwant Dhankar, Leo Irwan, Samveg Bhandari, Gurpreet Singh, Nancy Wu, O (Yes her Nick name was O), Sukhbir, Gaurav, Bhavesh Gaba, Siddharth, Vishlashak Kapoor, Jerin George, Anurit Banarjee, Nikhil, Pankaj Kundu, Deepesh and many others with whom I shared countless late-night assignment / project sessions, various trips, fun parties, and moments of great learning as well as great fun. These individuals have not only been an integral part of my USC experience but continue to be a source of inspiration and camaraderie.
USC offered a plethora of opportunities that enriched my personal growth and broadened my horizons. Campus life was a vibrant mosaic of cultures, perspectives, and ideas, where I had the chance to meet and interact with students from around the world. Whether it was attending Trojan football games, late-night study sessions at the Leavey Library, cycling to and from the university, those early morning shifts of my part time job or simply enjoying the beauty of the campus, each moment added a unique layer to my college experience.
I had the chance to visit so many places like the Hollywood, Rhodeo Drive, Universal Studios, Disneyland, October Fest, Halloween parties, Santa Monica Boulevard, Las Vegas, New York, New Jersey, San Francisco, San Diego, etc., that the combined memories of those time is to be cherished forever.
My time at USC left an indelible mark on me, shaping me into a more confident, resilient, and open-minded individual. The university taught me that learning is a continuous journey and that success is not just a destination but a series of small achievements that contribute to a larger goal. I learned the value of hard work, the importance of integrity, and the power of collaboration. These lessons that have served me well in my professional and personal life.
